Oli ("Oli", "we", "us") makes a nutrition-tracking app for iOS, and is operated from Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what's needed to run the app and we don't sell your data. For any privacy question you can reach us at support@olieat.com.
Information we collect
- Account. Your email address, and — if you use Sign in with Apple — the identifier Apple provides and, on first sign-in, your name and email (which may be an Apple private-relay address).
- Food logs. The meal text and photos you submit, and the calorie and macronutrient estimates generated from them.
- Cycle & health data. If you enable it, menstrual-cycle information (and related biometrics) used to tailor your nutrition targets — entered manually or read from Apple Health (HealthKit).
- Settings. Your nutrition targets and time zone.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you connect Apple Health, Oli reads cycle data, and related biometrics such as active energy burned, body measurements, biological sex and age, only with your permission. This data is used to personalize your nutrition targets and, when you use the AI coach, is included as context so its advice reflects your body and activity. When used for the AI coach, this context is processed by our AI provider (OpenAI) as a service provider solely to generate your response, and is not used to train its models. Oli does not write data to Apple Health. HealthKit data is never used for advertising or sold, and is never shared with third parties for their own purposes. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app.
Sign in with Apple
When you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable user identifier and (on first sign-in) your name and email, which may be a private-relay address that forwards to your real inbox. We use these to create and identify your account. If you delete your account, we revoke Oli's Apple authorization (see "Deleting your data").
AI estimates
To estimate calories and macros, the meal text and photos you submit are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) for processing and returned to the app. These estimates are approximate and are not medical or dietary advice. Do not rely on them for medical decisions.
How we share information
We share data only with service providers that help us operate Oli, and only as needed to provide the service:
- OpenAI — AI nutrition estimation.
- Resend — sending sign-in emails.
- Our hosting and database providers — storing your account and logs.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
Our website
Our website (olieat.com) uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate traffic. It does not track you across other sites or collect personally identifying information. The Oli app itself contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
International data transfers
We operate from Australia and some of our service providers (such as OpenAI and our hosting and email providers) are based in the United States or other countries. This means your data may be processed outside the country where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, and we only share what's needed to provide the service.
Data retention & deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. Deletion removes your account, food logs, targets, cycle settings, and sessions, and revokes Oli's Sign in with Apple authorization. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten. To request deletion another way, email us at support@olieat.com.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Children
Oli is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can exercise most of these in-app, or contact us at support@olieat.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
